His production was about 2000 muskets annually. Whitney died on January 8, 1826. The business was coducted by trustees from 1826 to 1842 when Eli Whitney Jr. assumed charge. In the later years Samuel V. Kennedy's magazinre rifles, Eli Whitney III' Phoenix rifles, Burgess and Howard hammerless rifles and many others were produced.
